Community Helpers

Over the past several weeks we have been learning about what it means to be a community helper. We started talking about our own classroom community where we each have an important role in the class. We then made a list of people in our Leverett Community who are helpers. This list included firefighters, doctors, nurses, construction workers, bakers, artists, safety dogs, etc. We were able to visit the Leverett Safety Complex and to have a tour of the firetrucks and learn about fire safety. We also got to see a snow plow and a front loader up close. Thank you to Deanna and Kevin Shaw for coming in and sharing the work that you both do as community helpers.

Off To A Great Start!!

We’re off to a great start this year! We have spent the first few weeks of school getting to know each other. Learning about the different centers in our room, we are beginning to move around the classroom more independently. Here are a few snapshots of preschool life so far. We hope you enjoy them.

Here we are!

Snapshots of Preschool Life

Hi Parents,

Over the next several months the preschool blog will highlight preschool life here at LES. We hope you will enjoy seeing us hard at work and play.

Your comments, as always, are appreciated.

The Preschool Team

February 3, 2016

Winter is well underway and our study of winter is coming to completion. Beginning this Friday, February 5th, we kickoff our unit on Transportation. In preschool we aim to design curriculum based on children’s interest as well as meet the Massachusetts Frameworks for our grade. There has been a high interest in cars, trucks, planes and boats and we look forward to learning about these various modes of transportation.

January progress reports have gone out and I hope that if you have any questions that you will contact me to discuss them. Looking forward to the weeks ahead !

Spring is in the air!

Spring is in the air in Preschoool. We have been learning a lot about Community Helpers and thought we would share some photos with you! Thanks to all the parents who have come in to our classroom to share their various talents. We’ve learned that there are many ways to be a part of a community.
